Elton John Joins Rina Sawayama for 'Chosen Family,' a Moving Ode to Her LGBTQ Family

Elton John and Rina Sawayama are teaming up together. The 74-year-old “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” music icon and the 30-year-old “XS” rising superstar joined forces for a special rendition of Rina‘s song “Chosen Family” on Wednesday (April 14). “We don’t need to be related to relate / We don’t need to share genes or a surname / You are, you are / My chosen, chosen family,” they sing together.

The track was produced by Danny L Harle and written by Rina, Danny and Jonny Latimer, and is described as emotional ode to her LGBTQ+ family.

The new version now includes Elton‘s vocals and piano playing. “It was such a joy and honor to rework ‘Chosen Family’ with the legendary Elton John.
