Ellie Simmonds has announced that the Tokyo Games will be her last ever Paralympics.The 26 year old has set records for Great Britain after debuting at age thirteen at the 2008 Games in Beijing and collectively winning a whopping eight medals, five of which being gold.
Speaking of her retirement after being disqualified in the S6 400m freestyle final on Thursday, the 26 year old tearfully admitted that she "knew going into the Games that it was going to be her last" as she "didn't think she could go for another three years". "I think that is my last competition.To go to four Paralympic games, including a home game and to come away with eight Paralympic medals and being part of that Paralympic movement as well," she said.
