Elizabeth Olsen Says She Once Felt 'Frustrated' By Her Marvel Contract

Elizabeth Olsen is opening up about how she once felt like she was trapped by Marvel. During her interview with The New York Times, the 33-year-old actress looked back on all the roles she missed out on because of her contract with Marvel to play Wanda Maximoff aka The Scarlet Witch. Click inside to read more… Elizabeth admits to the paper that she “started to feel frustrated” about being locked in to a Marvel contract. “I had this job security but I was losing these pieces that I felt were more part of my being.

And the further I got away from that, the less I became considered for it,” she said. “It took me away from the physical ability to do certain jobs that I thought were more aligned with the things I enjoyed as an audience member, and this is me being the most honest.” However, while she at first felt almost resentful, she also started to appreciate what she had too. “The power to choose to continue was important to me,” Elizabeth explained of the new kind of “freedom” she had within the MCU. “We thought what we were doing was so weird and didn’t know if we had an audience for it, so there was a freedom to it,” she went on. “There was no pressure, no fear.

It was a really healthy experience.” Elizabeth also revealed that if asked, she probably would sign on for more Marvel projects. “It really needs to be a good story.

I think these films are best when it’s not about creating content, but about having a very strong point of view — not because you need to have a three-picture plan.” Just recently, Elizabeth opened up about what irritates her about those hating on Marvel films.
