An elderly man has said he is "living in a fridge" after issues with a new heating system in his home, and has been subject to "constant back and forth" between him and a housing association over its handling of the situation.
Gerald Dorning had a new heat recovery ventilation system installed before Christmas. The device is designed to help homes become healthier and cleaner by replacing stale indoor air with fresh air from outside, while also heating the entire property. However, the 81-year-old said his system only releases cold air, leaving him sitting in a freezing cold flat all day, wrapped in a dressing gown.
He says he has attempted to contact multiple people from Places for People, which manages the property, but has had "no satisfaction" from anybody - saying it is "difficult to get hold of the right person".Our sister title Derbyshire Live reported the housing association denied his claims there are faults with the system after tests were carried out during a visit to his home.
Gerald lives alone and relies on assistance from a carer for everyday tasks, and has been left wondering how long he will be left to endure the conditions.Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. You'll receive daily updates on breaking news as well as the top headlines across Scotland. No one will be able to see who is signed up and no one can send messages except the Daily Record team. All you have to do is click here if you're on mobile, select 'Join Community' and you're in!If you're on a desktop, simply scan the QR code above with your phone and click 'Join Community'.We also treat our community members to special offers, promotions, and adverts from us and our partners.
