Eight people have been treated for stab injuries after a 'major incident' near a nursery. Armed officers raced to subdue a man they say was behind "multiple stabbings" that left several people wounded in Southport.
The incident unfolded on Hart Street when emergency services were called to the scene at around 11:50 am on Monday, July 29.In a statement, North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) revealed it had received "reports of multiple stabbings" and dispatched a slew of resources to the scene, joining forces with other emergency services.Merseyside Police have confirmed a number of casualties from the incident have been taken to hospitals including Alder Hey Children's Hospital, NorthA firm stance from law enforcement saw a suspect apprehended, with Merseyside Police stating: "Armed police have detained a male and seized a knife.
He has been taken to a police station."With a continued investigation, residents have been urged to avoid the area with police adding: "Please avoid the area while we deal with this incident.
There is no wider threat to the public."
