A car driven driven by an 'elderly female' has hit five pedestrians at the entrance of a Morrisons in Devon this afternoon. Police were called to the scene of the accident outside the branch of Paignton at around 12.05pm this afternoon, and they remain at the scene.
Witnesses have described how one shopper was thrown over a car which crashed into a barrier and then ploughed through people in the social distancing queue outside, Devon Live reports.
Devon and Cornwall Police say up to eight pedestrians were injured but none are thought to be seriously hurt in the accident next to Paignton Zoo.
Witnesses said afterwards that one person was lucky to escape with a broken arm after being thrown over the dark blue Volvo Cross Country estate car.
