The Environment Agency has issued more flood warnings across Greater Manchester, bringing the total to eight. They cover areas along the River Irk from Manchester city centre to Oldham.
This morning there were three flood warnings in place, but that number increased to eight this afternoon following a period of relentless rainfall.
People are being urged to 'avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses' and also to take care while walking, cycling or driving through floodwater. It includes Collyhurst Road, Roger Street and Scotland Bridge. Further north, 'risk areas' include properties on Waterloo Street, Hazelbottom Road, Stoneyholme Avenue, Vale Park industrial Estate, Hendham Vale industrial park and some properties on Hendham Vale.
