The EFL has confirmed that Stockport County's League Two clash with Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park on Friday evening has been postponed following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Buckingham Palace announced at 6:30pm this evening that she had died peacefully at Balmoral at the age of 96. She died earlier this afternoon.
A statement issued by Buckingham Palace said: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow." READ MORE: What happens to Premier League football and sporting events as the Queen dies It has since been announced by the EFL that Friday night's two scheduled fixtures — Tranmere versus Stockport and Burnley versus Norwich City — have been postponed.
Saturday's fixtures across the EFL and Premier League are also expected to be cancelled, but no official announcement, at the time of writing, has been made.
