A teacher who starred in TV documentary Educating Manchester has been banned from the classroom. Drew Povey was once described as "a breath of fresh air".
But he has now been struck off after being found to have removed pupils from the register in a bid to manipulate stats - and make the school look like it was performing better than it was.
The headteacher had several character referenceswhichpraised him as kind and charismatic. In the first series of the show, which aired in 2017, he was seen supporting teenagers.He helped youngsters through their school years, including their GCSEs, and persuaded one teen who planned to leave Harrop Fold School in Salford, Greater Manchester, early, to complete her exams.
