Chelsea are on the verge of signing Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, who is reportedly “keeping a cool head” amid his £20million switch to Stamford Bridge.Frank Lampard is keen to bring in another goalkeeper to provide competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga, who produced a number of costly mistakes for the Blues last season.And Mendy appears to be his man, with the Senegal international’s agent claiming this week that a deal has already been agreed between Chelsea and Rennes.According to L’Equipe, the west London club tabled an initial offer of £18million, which fell bellow Rennes’ £27million asking price.But it is believed the two sides have now agreed on a £20million deal, meaning Chelsea were given permission to speak with Mendy on.
