Radio presenter Edith Bowman has addressed rumours that she had a relationship with Cat Deeley. The TV personality, who has recently launched a new podcast with Cat, admitted that she was “in love” with her co-star - as friends, that is.

Appearing on Angela Scanlon’s Thanks a Million podcast, 48 year old Edith discussed her decades long friendship with the SM:TV Live host.

After presenting Hitlist UK together in the 90s, the pair later travelled across the US as part of the show Roadtripping. Speaking of their bond, Edith said: “Cat Deeley and I, who are still really good mates, we started MTV at the same time and we'd spent so much time just hanging out and going out.” Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter.

She added: “We came up with the idea [while] watching Thelma and Louise one night with a bottle of wine going, 'Wouldn't it be great to do a show like this?’ “We were really good mates, and we are really good mates still. “And it was like, 'Oh, Cat and Edith are in a lesbian relationship'.” The Radio 2 DJ went on to explain that images of the duo leaving a bar together had been picked up, leading the “intrusive” rumours to circulate. “Photographs of us kind of holding each other up, coming out of the Met bar or whatever was because we were p****d it wasn't because we were like, licking each other's faces off! “We are in love, but as friends kind of thing, It's so bizarre.” She continued: “That felt kind of slightly intrusive.” Away from her friendship with Cat, Edith began dating Editors singer Tom Smith back in 2005.
