Edinburgh hotel named as one of the best openings worldwide in 2023

A hotel in Edinburgh has been named as one of the best in the world that will open this year in a new ranking by The Times.The newspaper recently unveiled its '30 best new hotels around the world for 2023', shining a light on some of the most amazing places that will open their doors to guests taking a holiday or city break this year.

Hotels in the likes of Italy, France and Portugal all made the prestigious list, all promising to offer visitors a luxurious place to stay and plenty of culture as well.

One of the destinations on the list was 100 Princes Street in our country's capital, coming in at sixth place and being the only Scots hotel to make the top 30.The hotel is currently undergoing a makeover, but has big plans to become a cultural and historical hub that people will be eager to stay at when it opens in August this year.

The backstory behind the hotel is an incredibly rich one. The former Royal-Over-Seas League Clubhouse will soon be transformed into a luxurious place to stay, with its new look being inspired by Alexander McQueen.The location has been a pinnacle of Edinburgh's history for many years after being passed down through several famed hoteliers.When it was purchased by the League in 1929 and reopened by the Duke of York as a club a year later, it became the first mixed club in Edinburgh where many high-ranking officials from the Commonwealth often stayed.100 Princes Street's new look will feature a stunning hand-painted mural featuring several famous explorers in an eye-catching display you won't see anywhere else.It will also feature plenty of custom-made tartan designed by Araminta Campbell of whom King Charles is a big fan.Each one of the 30 bedrooms promises to be "lushly OTT", offering the utmost
