Eddie Howe has finally broken his silence on why he did not join Celtic. The new Newcastle boss was close to taking charge at Parkhead in May, after protracted talks about the manager’s job.

But Howe backed out and decided to wait for a different opportunity, and the Tyneside club came calling with a Premier League return opportunity last week.
