Ed Sheeran has shared the incredible story of how he acquired a personally signed guitar directly from his childhood hero, Eric Clapton – only for the instrument to be ‘burnt to a crisp’ in a fire.

The 30-year-old chart topping star has been a life-long fan of 76-year-old music icon Eric – and was all a flutter when he managed to meet the star himself.

Ed became an even bigger fan of Eric when the rock legend gifted him one of his very own guitars – and adding his signature to the musical instrument for good measure.

But elation turned to heartache for Ed, when the guitar was set ablaze when his personal studio, where it was hanging on the wall, went up in flames.
