Ed Sheeran has revealed the titles of his future albums and said he was inspired by Quentin Tarantino to cap his releases at 10.The ‘Shape Of You’ singer appeared on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon yesterday (March 27), where he shared that the title for his upcoming album will be ‘Play’.The news comes after weeks of teasing, and, though the LP is yet to receive a release date, Sheeran went on to reveal that the titles for his next string of albums will be influenced by controls on record plays.Where his previous collection of albums was inspired by mathematical symbols (‘Plus’, ‘Multiply’, ‘Divide’, ‘Subtract’ and ‘Equals’), he told Fallon that next collection would include titles like ‘Pause’, ‘Fast Forward’, ‘Rewind’ and ‘Stop’ – an idea he says he had when he was 18.Sheeran also added that, once that series is complete, he plans to stop making albums. “I wanted to do 10.
I’m kind of a bit obsessed with [Quentin] Tarantino, and I heard he was doing 10 films, and he’s got his side projects like Grindhouse,” he said. “I wanna do my 10 and then every now and then do a side project.”He also suggested that he’s already planning for a posthumous release that will contain songs written through several decades of his life and will be released upon his death.
He first hinted at this in 2023 and said that it’s “continuous work”.“I kind of want to make an album for the whole of my life where you put different songs on and then it’s in your will that it comes out the day you die, and it’s called ‘Eject’,” he told Fallon.“Imagine if when [Paul] McCartney passes away and there’s a record that he’s made that has a song from he’s 16, there’s a song from when he’s 20, there’s a song from when he’s 30.
