The Scottish Parliament building has been sprayed with red paint hours after the UK Government backed hundreds of new oil and gas licences.
Climate protestors from This Is Rigged filmed the direct action and shared it on social media.On Twitter, the group wrote: "BREAKING: THIS IS RIGGED SPRAY SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT RED."They also accused the Scottish Government of "silence" on new oil and gas developments: "They must vocally oppose ALL new oil and gas, or they are complicit."Police officers were called to the scene shortly after 1.40pm.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of protestors at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh shortly after 1.40pm on Tuesday, 1 August.
