Easyjet flight makes emergency landing as co-pilot issues red alert

An easyjet flight packed with holidaymakers was forced in to an emergency landing after the co-pilot issued a red alert.There was said to be around 100 people on board the easyJet Airbus A320 which was travelling from London's Gatwick airport to Agadir in Morocco but was forced to touch down in the Algarve after a medical emergency, reports the Mirror.The plane diverted to Portugal's Faro airport after leaving London at around 6.30am on Friday, with the pilot reportedly taking ill, and was due to land in Morocco at around 9.25am local time.

A mid-air alert was issued by the co-pilot and the plane landed safely.According to Portuguese media, a source at Faro airport claimed the stop was caused by the pilot suffering an "indisposition".

He was then treated to by medical professionals on the ground.The co-pilot, who sounded the alarm, performed a 'routine landing' according to the airline.An easyjet spokesperson told the Mirror: "EasyJet can confirm that flight EZY6469 from London Gatwick to Agadir on 21 April diverted to Faro due to the First Officer requiring medical assistance.“The Captain performed a routine landing in accordance with standard operating procedures and the aircraft was met by medical services on arrival in Faro.“A replacement crew was arranged and passengers have since continued their journey to Agadir.
