Ian Beale has been a mainstay at Albert Square since 1985, when the Old Vic pub first opened its doors, earmarking the beginning of the EastEnders era.

But after 36 years on the soap, Ian Beale actor Adam Woodyatt, 52, left the square in January to take some time away to experience new things.

Last year, he announced he would be divorcing his wife of 22 years, Beverley Sharp, who he has two children with, 27-year-old Jessica and 23-year-old Samuel after the couple married at Disney World in Florida in 1998.

Last year, a spokesperson for Adam said: "Beverley and Adam separated in August last year, and we ask that the family's privacy is respected." A source later told The Sun: "Beverley was naturally very upset, as anybody would be in the
