EastEnders fans spotted a huge blunder in the live episode, which also delivered a spine-tingling forecast. The BBC soap's live instalment on Thursday night, marking its 40th anniversary, had viewers glued to their screens.Soap boss Chris Clenshaw promised a series of dramatic turns – with some proving more shattering than others.

The recent "who dunnit? " plot involving Cindy Beale's (Michelle Collins) enigmatic assailant concluded when Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) confessed to striking Cindy with a shovel and leaving her to perish.Yet, this wasn't the sole shocker EastEnders had up its sleeve as Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman), already guilty of his wife Debbie's brutal murder, caused another fatality.

In his bid to elude Bianca, he narrowly missed hitting Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) but crashed his vehicle into the Queen Vic pub and several gas canisters. The collision led to the Vic erupting in flames, the structure collapsing instantly, trapping many inside during Billy and Honey Mitchell's nuptials.

Martin Fowler (James Bye) found himself ensnared, but instead of escaping with his partner Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton), he stayed behind to rescue his former spouse Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner).
