EastEnders announces Sonia Fowler twist during live episode

EastEnders has finally unveiled the name of Sonia Fowler's baby daughter live on air, and it was the public who had their say.

In a nail-biting episode earlier in the week, Sonia shared with Lauren Branning and Bianca Jackson that she was torn between two names, Julia and Toni.

But as the drama unfolded during the one hour episode on Wednesday 19 February with the explosion at the Vic and the tragic sight of baby daddy Reiss Colwell being crushed, baby naming took a backseat while Sonia was trapped in the Vic and in labour.

After the episode aired, fans visiting the EastEnders website to vote on the outcome of Denise's love triangle were given the chance to vote for a second time to name Sonia's little one.The two choices, Julia and Toni, were in tribute to EastEnders' creators Julia Smith and Tony Holland.The BBC website posed the question: "To honour the creators of EastEnders.
