St Kenneth’s Primary School’s athletics team are celebrating after securing an indoor treble this season.Youngsters enjoyed success at the East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire and West of Scotland finals to take home three trophies and proud pupils now head into the outdoor season on a high.The team started on their treble journey back in December when St Kenneth’s Primary (886 points) beat Long Calderwood (843) and Our Lady of Lourdes (820) to win the East Kilbride area final, qualifying them for the South Lanarkshire Indoor Final featuring the best teams from the four main areas of South Lanarkshire (East Kilbride and Strathaven, Rutherglen and Cambuslang, Hamilton and Clydesdale).That event then took place in February with St Kenneth’s beating Crawforddyke Primary by 14 points and St Bride’s Primary from Cambuslang/ Rutherglen area finishing third.Representing St Kenneth’s in both of these indoor finals were: Ben Naismith (captain), Joshua Burns, Cal Boyle, Calum Rouse, Max Hickey, Kaiden Black, James Currie and Seam McCudden.
Millie Ashelby (captain), Kate Burns, Nelly Samuel Ali, Charis Ajala, Providence Mapani, Neve Darcey, Sophie Lewandowski and Charlotte McGinley.Victory in this final meant an invitation for St Kenneth’s to the West of Scotland Indoor Final, held at the John Wright Sports Centre on March 1.A team of 26 athletes was required for this final and the event comprised two different obstacle relay races for boys and girls, and four sets of sprint relay races for both boys and girls.
The field events comprised Speed Bounce, Vertical Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Chest Push Ball Throw and Turbo Javelin.St Kenneth’s held their nerve and competed consistently well across all events to won in grand style, and
