East Kilbride MP recognises sports centre's 50-year history with parliamentary motion

The team at the John Wright Sports Centre have been presented with an Early Day Motion in celebration of the leisure hub's 50 years in the town.East Kilbride MP, Dr Lisa Cameron, met with staff and management at South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture and thanked them personally for their service and the importance of their work promoting community wellbeing throughout their 50-year legacy.The motion, lodged in the House of Commons, also pays special tribute to former Provost John Wright, known locally as 'Mr East Kilbride', for his pioneering service and vision for the town.Dr Cameron said: “It was a real privilege to attend the John Wright Sports Centre to present staff with a special commemorative motion lodged in Westminster for their 50th anniversary of service across East Kilbride.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
