East Ayrshire Council say town centre road can accommodate lorries after HGV crashes in Kilmarnock

East Ayrshire Council say that a road reduced to one lane in Kilmarnock town centre was designed to ensure all vehicles can safely manoeuvre round the one way system.

The council spoke out today after a lorry got stuck last night when it crashed on a bend in the town centre.The Morrisons supermarket HGV was lodged at where King Street, Titchfield Street and St Marnock Street merge for more than an hour and a half last night after crashing across from where demolition works are being carried out at the former Mothercare building.Police were called to the major town centre road to manage the scene until the HGV was shifted at around 9.30pm.Some had suggested that the two-lane route being reduced to one for the scheduled works had contributed.
