East Ayrshire Council agree to fund food tourism jobs in region

Ayrshire. Scotch beef, lamb, potatoes, langoustines, cheese and ice-cream are among fare from the region set to be promoted.The food and drink sector is considered vital to the recovery of the local economy following the pandemic.East Ayrshire Council leader Douglas Reid said: “It is more important than ever as we seek to recover from the Covid situation.

It would be good to get people out there advertising what is on offer.“One of the positive things about the lockdown is we have come to recognise what we have on our doorstep.

We have a lot to offer in Ayrshire and it is worth publicising that.”The council has agreed to contribute £6,666 towards the food tourism coordinator jobs.The appointments are to be made subject to further funding.
