Experts have issued a warning about an "early" sign of dementia that could manifest itself in the kitchen, urging people not to ignore it.
Dementia is a syndrome characterised by a continuous decline in brain function and is most common in those aged 65 and over.However, its symptoms can often be mistaken for normal signs of ageing.
The Alzheimer's Association has compiled a list of red flags to watch out for including during cooking."If you notice any of them, don't ignore them," the charity advised, adding, "Schedule an appointment with your doctor."While memory loss is a well-known symptom of dementia, it can easily be dismissed as a natural part of ageing.
The charity emphasised that struggling to follow a familiar recipe while cooking could be a serious indicator of the condition.
