DWP urges pensioners to make crucial check as £301 cost of living payment date confirmed

Pensioners are being urged to make some vital checks ahead of the £301 cost of living payment. The DWP confirmed that millions of people on means-tested benefits will begin to see the payment landing in their accounts from Tuesday, April 25.

It will be the first of three payments throughout 2023/24 equating to £900. In order to be eligible for the Cost of Living payment, you must be receiving one of the qualifying means-tested benefits.

Among these is Pension Credit, which many pensioners are being urged to check if they are eligible for. You will be able to start your application for Pension Credit up to four months before you reach State Pension age. While you can still apply any day after you reach State Pension age, your application is only able to be backdated by up to three months.
