DWP change Universal Credit threshold in move that could cause sanctions
manchestereveningnews.co.ukPeople who are claiming Universal Credit while they are in work will now have to earn more money or they will be called in by their work coach, according to a change to the Department for Work and Pensions' (DWP) website.
According to the new information about the Administrative Earnings Threshold (AET), workers on low incomes will now have to earn more than £743 every month, or they could be forced to look for other work.
The AET is the amount of money that someone on part-time work must earn more than, or face having to complete more work searches and, failing that, potential sanctions on their benefits.
From April, the DWP has set this earnings threshold at £743 for an individual, or about 22 hours of work at Minimum Wage (£8.60), or 16 hours of work at the Living Wage (£11.44) a week.
