He was cast as the geeky Samuel 'Screech' Powers in the first incarnation of Saved By The Bell, then known as Good Morning, Miss Bliss in 1988.
From 1989 to 1993, he went on to play the role in Saved By The Bell, later returning for its sequel series Saved By The Bell: The College Years from 1993 to 1994.
In addition to spin-off films in 1992 and 1994, Dustin reprised his role as Screech for Saved By The Bell: The New Class, which saw his character become a staff member at his old high school.
