Gabby McGill feared the worst when he fractured his shin back in December, but is delighted to be back playing for Airdrie, and hopes to have put his injury problems behind him.The 21-year-old netted twice as Airdrie led Clyde 2-1 at Broadwood on December 18, only for the game to be abandoned after 70 minutes due to thick fog.On-loan Dunfermline Athletic striker McGill had taken a nasty knock in the process of rifling Airdrie ahead two minutes into the second half, and it turned out that he had fractured his shin.McGill made his comeback on February 26, climbing off the bench to score in the 1-1 draw against Clyde, and is delighted to be back in the first-team frame as Airdrie head to Falkirk this afternoon, aiming to extend their 12-game unbeaten run as they chase the League One title. He told Airdrie's website: "When it first happened I thought the worst, I was in a lot of pain."I ended up going for a scan and it turns out I fractured my shin in three places, one of them being quite deep."That was a bit of a bitter pill to swallow."However, you would rather fracture your shin than do a ligament, in terms of time to come back.
