Carolyn Giardina American Cinema Editors revealed the nominees for its 75th ACE Eddie Awards, which will be handed out Jan.
18 at UCLA’s Royce Hall. The nominees for dramatic theatrical feature are Jake Roberts for “Civil War,” Nick Emerson for “Conclave,” Joe Walker for “Dune: Part 2,” Juliette Welfling for “Emilia Pérez” and Eliot Knapman and Margaret Sixel for “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.” In the category for a comedic theatrical feature, ACE voters nominated Sean Baker for “Anora” (which he also directed), Marco Costa for “Challengers,” Robert Nassau for “A Real Pain,” Coralie Fargeat and Jérôme Eltabet for “The Substance” and Myron Kerstein for “Wicked.” This year the dramatic feature category nominees include the sequels to two past winners of the Oscar in film editing.
Joe Walker won an Oscar for “Dune” in 2022, and is now nominated for “Part 2.” And Margaret Sixel collected an Oscar and Eddie for “Mad Max: Fury Road” in 2016.
Sixel is now nominated for “Furiosa” alongside fellow editor Eliot Knapman. Each year during the past decade, the eventual Oscar winner in film editing earned an Eddie nomination.
