Dundee's second ever Fringe festival has opened for applications after a hugely successful first year.Running for nine days this September at Dock Street Studios, the festival is hoping to build upon the success of the first programme in 2021.

It promises "theatre, comedy, music, and community events" in the heart of Dundee's city centre. The first event, also held at Dock Street, featured magicians, plays, a rave party, workshops and discussion panels among other shows and events.

Dundee Fringe is the brainchild of JD Henshaw, who has much in the way of festival chops - giving the event a sense of grandeur.JD has worked in theatre for two decades and has experience of presenting shows and running venues at established festivals such as the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Brighton Fringe. He said of the festival: “It’s important for me to help create a network and opportunities for local creatives year-round.

After the experiences of [the coronavirus pandemic], being together and sharing work with audiences feels even more essential.“I’m excited to work with others in Dundee to create a more sustainable fringe festival experience for everyone involved.
