A Dumfries broadcaster is to lead a new BBC Scotland TV show. Former St Joseph’s College pupil Amy Irons will share Reporting Scotland: News at Seven presenting duties with Laura Maciver.The new, 30 minute weeknight news programme will come live from the BBC’s Pacific Quay headquarters in Glasgow.

The show will bring stories from the BBC’s newsrooms across Scotland and have a conversational and informal tone, offering analysis and discussion of the day’s biggest stories.Laura and Amy will share presenting duties across the course of the week.The show will launch on Monday, January 6 – less than a week after Amy presents BBC Scotland’s Hogmanay 2024 show that will also feature musical performances from legendary Scottish singer Marti Pellow, traditional Scottish Celtic folk band Skipinnish, and Scottish country folk artist Rianne Downey.Amy said: “It’s great to be joining the presenting line-up and team of this new programme.
I’m really excited to be seeing out 2024 with the Hogmanay show and starting 2025 with News at Seven.” Amy has presented across a variety of radio and TV shows, including BBC Scotland’s Sacked in the Morning football podcast with former Scotland, Hearts and St Johnstone manager Craig Levein.
