Butcher Stuart Houston will tomorrow pull down the shutters on his iconic shop for the last time after more than half a century in the family- run business.
He has been involved with the Dumfries firm as a van boy, sweeper upper and then owner for 30 years after replacing his father, who took over from his father before him.
Now Mr Houston, 62, has sold it to The Butchery, of Lockerbie, another family firm, and reckons it is in safe hands for the future.
He said: “It has been 46 years for me plus five years as a van boy and sweeper upper. Just the other day I was thinking that the amount of haggis that I made in a year was phenomenal.
