Businesses and organisations across Dumfries and Galloway have been nominated for the south of Scotland’s first ever Thistle Awards.

The prizes are the premier tourism accolades in the country, with Dumfries and Galloway usually in the west region awards. However, a south region – featuring Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders – has been created for the Johnstons of Elgin sponsored awards for the first time.

Among the nominees are Nithbank Country Estate at Thornhill and Queensberry House in Moffat, both shortlisted for best B&B or guest house experience.

Nithbank is also in the running for the climate action award. Gather near Gatehouse, is in the running for best eating experience.
