husband of an American diplomat has fallen to his death from the 27th floor of a New York apartment.Bystanders reportedly tried to talk the 31-year-old down, with Good Samaritans attempting to persuade the man to leave the ledge opposite the Empire State Building.There were "loads of people" trying to help the man off of the terrace to safety at 325 Fifth Avenue in New York, with other witnesses watching on from an office block over the street.Witnesses have also said the man, who has not been named, fell from the building at around 5:30pm and "smashed through a load of tiles".The man fell from the 27th floor of the building and landed on the third floor terrace and reportedly left a suicide note before his fatal plunge.He is said to have fallen nearly 20 stories before hitting the third floor terrace which jutted out of the complex and was pronounced dead at the scene.A concierge at a nearby building said: "People were trying to talk him out of it, I'm not sure if he jumped in the end or not as I had to go home."But there were loads of people there trying to stop him from falling or jumping.
