Edward Christopher Sheeran, MBE (born 17 February 1991) is an English singer-songwriter. In early 2011, Sheeran independently released the extended play, No. 5 Collaborations Project. After signing with Asylum Records, his debut album, + (pronounced "plus"), was released in September 2011. It topped the UK and Australian charts, reached number five in the US, and has since been certified eight-times platinum in the UK.
The album contains the single "The A Team", which earned him the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. In 2012, Sheeran won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. "The A Team" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards, where he performed the song with Elton John.
Dua Lipa has been chatting about the recording process for her third album, but she's already warning her fans that Future Nostalgia's follow-up is doing a bit of a sonic pivot.
Future Nostalgia proved to be a breakthrough record for Dua across both 2020 and 2021; it birthed at the last count 8 (!) singles, which is pretty much un-heard of in the current pop landscape.
It's nu-disco soundscape was also very of the moment, but as Dua tells the Wall Street Journal, her next album will probably move away from her second record's defined sound. "In all honesty, it’s probably not what my fans want to hear," she said. "It has a vision.
It has a name, I think—for now. It’s just been fun experimenting. "I’m always going to make pop music, but it has its own unique sound, which is exciting and something that feels like a movement from Future Nostalgia." Future Nostalgia peaked at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart - despite originally being denied the chart-topped by 5 Seconds of Summer - and spent a total of four weeks at the summit.
