A drunk Scottish dad who glassed a stranger in the face during a city break with pals has kept his freedom. David Shaw, 30, who had been drinking for more than 12 hours during his trip from Falkirk , hit Colby Richardson, 23, with his pint glass and caused cuts that "bled profusely" and needed 13 stitches.
Newcastle Crown Court heard some of the injuries caused during the "30 second" attack, on the dance floor at Tiger Tiger in Newcastle, were close to Mr Richardson's eye.
Judge Tim Gittins told Shaw: "You were centimetres away from blinding that man."Shaw had admitted unlawful wounding at an earlier hearing.The court heard the men had been with separate groups of friends in the busy city nightspot in the early hours of December 2, 2018.P
