An elderly woman has been left 'penniless' after her drug addict grandson stole her £10,000 life savings while buying her shopping during lockdown.
Jordan Hitchin's grandmother only noticed something was wrong with her account when she went to pick up some groceries and her card was declined at the till.
The kind shop owner let her take the items anyway but she asked her son to enquire with the bank as to why her card was declined when she returned home.
It was then discovered that 27-year-old Hitchin had taken £10,000 of her savings between February and May 2020, Birmingham Live reports.
