Driver seen 'swerving on M6' leads police on high-speed chase

manchestereveningnews.co.ukA driver seen swerving and hitting cones on the M6 was stopped on a Cheshire street following a high-speed pursuit. Police received reports of a black Volkswagen Amarok Highline which was swerving on the M6 southbound at around 2.45am today (January 30).
The pick-up truck was seen hitting cones near to junction 19, at Knutsford. Officers were sent out to the motorway and soon spotted the vehicle at junction 18, near Middlewich.
Cheshire Police says officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver made off at speed. He then exited the motorway at junction 17, in Sandbach.
Police pursued the vehicle, which began travelling at speed through residential areas from Sandbach to Middlewich. A police helicopter was also called out.
