A driver has had a remarkable escape twice in the space of a few seconds and has incredible pictures to show for it as well.

He almost got decapitated by a plank of wood when it smashed through the windscreen before his van was destroyed by a lorry.

The pictures show the dark grey Ford Transit van totally crushed after it collided with an HGV on Monday, May 2. The impact of the collision caused the van to flip on its side on the A50 between Blythe Bridge and Uttoxeter in Staffordshire at around 11.48am.

However, despite the carnage, both the driver of the van and the operator of the HGV managed to walk away with only minor injuries.
