Driver's trip to Manchester ends in four-hour taxi back home

A driver's trip to Manchester for an illegal car meeting ended in a 'four hour taxi back home' to Reading after his car was seized, police have revealed.

Greater Manchester Police's traffic unit posted details online. The force said the motorist's car had a series of defects - and had no road tax. The driver is said to have been reported for a number of suspected offences. The force went on to share images of the vehicle online.

GMP Traffic said on X, formerly Twitter: "This driver came up to Manchester from Reading for an illegal car meet. The vehicle had a warped axle, a sharp protruding bumper, an illegal exhaust and no road tax. "Pg9 issued, vehicle recovered and driver reported for several offences." They signed off with a tongue-in-cheek hashtag - four hour taxi ride home.
