Two men led officers on a pursuit of more than 10 miles along three motorways before being brought to a sudden halt. Police were alerted to reports of an Iveco box van on false plates at the Poplar 2000 services in Lymm, Cheshire, at 10.50pm on Tuesday (February 21).
Officers were quickly deployed to the scene and confirmed the vehicle was using cloned plates. They began to pursue the Iveco, which was driven on the M56 before heading north on the M6 and eastbound on the M62 towards Manchester.
The van was eventually brought to a standstill after officers used a tactical stop between junctions 11 at Birchwood and 12 at Eccles.
Both occupants, aged 27 and 29, were removed from the vehicle. READ MORE: More than 1,700 properties hit by power cut in Stockport - full list of postcodes affected They were arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified, theft of a motor vehicle and driving under false plates.
