A driver has died after an Audi crashed into the central reservation on the M56 and burst into flames. Firefighters rushed to the scene near Manchester Airport, but found the Silver Audi A8 was 'well alight'.
Sadly the driver of the vehicle died of their injuries. The horror smash took place at about 6.45am on Friday. The crash took place on the eastbound carriageway of the between junction 7 and junction 6. The victim's family has been informed and are being supported by officers.
Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward. In a statement earlier Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Emergency services are at the scene of a road traffic collision on the M56 east between junctions 6 and 7.
