Dramatic footage has revealed the moment a suspected grenade was exploded by bomb disposal units on a playing field in Bury.
Police, fire crews and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit (EOD) attended an incident on Rivington Drive at around 11.15am on Sunday (June 30) after the device was uncovered.
A 100m cordon was put in place in the area before a 'controlled explosion' was carried out by specialist teams after the device was moved from the scene. Greater Manchester Police confirmed they had been called to reports of a suspected grenade being found, with the area taped off 'for the safety of the community' as crews worked at the scene.
