SoundCloud has announced that it will make redundancies affecting approximately 20 per cent of its global workforce.The reasons are attributed to changes in the economic and financial landscape, as Billboard and Variety report, and follows a near-40 per cent cut in 2017.“During this difficult time, we are focused on providing the support and resources to those transitioning while reinforcing our commitment to executing our mission to lead what’s next in music,” the company wrote in a statement shared to Variety.CEO Michael Weissman sent an email to SoundCloud employees yesterday (August 3) to announce the lay-offs, which will impact employees worldwide.“Today’s change positions SoundCloud for the long run and puts us on a path to sustained profitability,” Weissman said in the email.

Lee Ryan shot to fame in the early 2000s as a member of the hit boyband Blue, alongside Simon Webbe, Duncan James and Antony Costa. The band, who have sold over 14 million records worldwide, split in 2005 in a bid to launch solo careers, and Lee, 39, went on to become a regular on reality TV shows, including Celebrity Big Brother and Hell's Kitchen. Nicki Minaj’s father Robert Maraj in a February 2021 hit-and-run incident has been sentenced to one year in prison.Charles Polevich, 71, struck 64-year-old Maraj while he was walking in the village of Mineola on Long Island, New York.Polevich drove off without calling emergency services and also hid his car. Maraj was taken to a Nassau County hospital where he died.Nassau County police were able to track down Polevich’s vehicle using security footage.  Polevich was arrested and charged three days after the incident.“He’s absolutely aware of what happened,” Nassau Police Homicide Detective Lt.
