Dolly Parton is returning to the spotlight following the passing of her husband Carl Dean.
On Friday (March 15), the 79-year-old country music icon surprised fans while stepping out for the 40th anniversary ceremony of the opening of her Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

I expect to be working,” Dolly told fans about her decision to attend the ceremony, according to a local news outlet. “I just wanted you to know that of course I will always love him, and I’ll miss him, but I wanted you to know that I will always love you,” she added as the crowd cheered, “We love you, Dolly.” Following Carl‘s death, Dolly released a new song in his honor.
