Dog sentenced to death saved at the eleventh hour by Scots charity

Scots dog who was sentenced to death after allegedly killing another canine has been saved from death row. Rocco was suspected to be a pit bull-type dog, an illegal breed to own in the UK.It is understood that he was involved in an incident where his former owner left him at home in Kirriemuir, Angus for 48 hours without food or water and in the company of a smaller dog, unknown to him.

When his owner returned, the smaller pooch had been killed and Rocco was still alive. He was seized by police in January 2020, with a destruction order created ordering him to be put down.

It was believed that five-year-old Rocco was a pit bull, which is one of four banned breeds in the UK. However, thanks to campaigning by animal welfare charity Save our.
