‘Doctor Who’ Season 2 Teaser: Varada Sethu Joins Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson in the Whoniverse

Ellise Shafer There’s officially a new companion in the Whoniverse. The first teaser for the second season of Disney+ and the BBC’s “Doctor Who” introduces Varada Sethu as Belinda Chandra, who assertively tells Ncuti Gatwa‘s Doctor: “You need to get me home!” The clip seems to tease an apocalyptic invasion of some sort, with spaceships and robots roaming about as Gatwa exclaims, “What the hell is this?!” Gibson’s Ruby Sunday, Gatwa’s Season 1 companion, also makes an appearance — dispelling for good rumors that she wouldn’t be returning for another chapter.

The official synopsis for the season, which is set to premiere next year, states: “The Doctor meets Belinda Chandra and begins an epic quest to get her back to Earth.

But a mysterious force is stopping their return and the time-traveling TARDIS team must face great dangers, bigger enemies and wider terrors than ever before.” The first look premiered on Wednesday following the debut of this year’s “Doctor Who” Christmas special.

Titled “Joy to the World,” the episode sees “Bridgerton” star Nicola Coughlan team up with the Doctor for a dinosaur-themed adventure.
