Doctor Sanjeev Sharma was rushed to hospital on April 9 2020 when he was unable to eat and drink. After being taken into Southport Hospital, it was discovered that the 66-year-old had contracted coronavirus and was quickly put on oxygen, reports Lancs Live.

The consultant obstetrician from Formby, whose wife had previously described him as fit and healthy, quickly took a turn for the worse.

He was moved to the intensive care unit and then intubated in a matter of days after arriving at the hospital.Sanjeev was then monitored for a month
