At just nine-years-old, Helen Wall learned that her mother, June, had breast cancer. As she watched her mum’s fear turn into fight, the family spent the next 15 years battling the disease together.
Helen’s mother, who had been a midwife for years in Bolton, was in and out of hospital, going through rounds of chemotherapy, and slowly the cancer took its toll.
More than a decade on from being diagnosed in 1991, the fight tragically claimed the life of Helen’s ‘best friend’ - her beloved mum - in 2006.
Now a GP partner, Dr Helen is the senior responsible officer for the Covid-19 vaccine programme in Bolton and the clinical director of commissioning for Bolton CCG.
